Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly keen on bringing in Watford’s Brazilian ace, Richarlison. The 20-year old attacking player moved to the English side this summer from Fluminense for a fee recorded as somewhere between £11 million and £13 million. He was tipped for a summer move ever since the market opened and was linked with clubs like Palmeiras, Ajax and English champions Chelsea.
However, the Hornets ended up winning the signature of the player, as he joined Watford on a five-year contract. He enjoyed an impressive spell with the Brazilian club Fluminense since joining them in 2015. He scored 19 goals in 67 games for the Brazilian outfit while also getting called up for the Brazilian under 20 national setup, scoring two goals in eight games for them.
Richarlison has enjoyed a bright start to his Premier League career as well, scoring four goals and setting up three assists in his twelve games at the club. Much of the credit for Watford’s impressive start to the new season will go to the dynamic Brazilian winger who has been very influential every time Watford are looking to score goals.
His dazzling skill makes him an incredibly hard dribbler to tackle off the ball. He also possesses great speed to not only survive but thrive in the fast-paced English league. Add to this, his flair and a certain goal threat that comes naturally to some players and Richarlison possesses everything needed to become a hit in England. Hence, it is no surprise that his incredible form and his young age has attracted the interest of a certain Mauricio Pochettino.
Pochettino is a believer in high-tempo football with a team that has a great tenacity to attack in waves. He also loves to give chances to young players to thrive on the big stage. He helps prepare them for the grand occasions by managing them with great care so as to remove the fear of the occasion from them.
The development of the likes of Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Eric Dier and most recently Davinson Sanchez stands as testimony to the work Pochettino has done and can do with young players, who have the potential.
Although Richarlison has said he intends to stay at Watford and wants to write history at the club, we know football is a fast-changing game. Should an opportunity arrive for Richarlison to work with a manager of Pochettino’s calibre and in a team of Tottenham’s quality, it is difficult to see him turning it down in favour of a stay at Watford.
