Tottenham recorded a historic win at Wembley defeating the current holders of the Champions League, Real Madrid. They looked rampant tonight after their disappointing losses to West Ham and Manchester United. With their talisman Harry Kane, back in the starting line up, they rolled past a pretty sorry Real Madrid team. Dele Alli steals the show after his brace helped Tottenham cruise to a 3-1 victory. Here are the player ratings of Tottenham.
Hugo Lloris (7):
Was not at his defiant best but did just enough. Could have had a clean sheet on what would have been a perfect night.
Toby Alderweireld (6):
Pulled up lame in the 24th minute of the game. Shame he could not carry on
Davinson Sánchez (7):
Was a little clumsy on the ball as he was caught on the turn on a few occasions, in an otherwise, decent performance.
Jan Vertonghen (6):
The Belgian was drawn out of position and left the team open defensively. Distributed the ball relatively well from the back.
Kieran Trippier (7):
Had an excellent game in the right wing-back position. Provided the assist for Alli’s first. Made some brilliant runs into the box and was rightly serviced with some pint point cross field passes.
Eric Dier (8):
Started off as a centre midfielder but had to be pushed back as a centre-half upon Alderweireld’s injury. Did a very good job defensively and ensured his passing was accurate.
Harry Winks (7):
Showed great energy in the middle of the park. Had a part to play in Alli’s second. Overall a very assuring performance
Ben Davies (7):
An extremely disciplined performance from the Welshman. Knew when to surge upfield and carried out his defensive duties to perfection.
Christian Eriksen (8):
Tirelessly pressed the Real Madrid backline along with his frontmen. Put away his chance in cool fashion to put Tottenham 3-0 up.
Dele Alli (9):
Today’s Man of The Match by a country mile. After a lot of criticism regarding his attitude, he had to step it up to prove them wrong and boy did he do it.
Harry Kane (8):
Never gave the Real Madrid defenders a moment’s peace. Constantly running after lost causes, he was a great physical presence. He is not just about goals, showing that he had the vision to set up Tottenham’s third.
Subs:
Moussa Sissoko (6):
Missed a glorious opportunity to put Spurs 2-0 ahead. Played in centre midfield and did a relatively good job.
Mousa Dembélé (6):
Was brought on for Harry Winks in the 66th minute. Could have been sent off after a horrible kick at Ramos.
Fernando Llorente (6):
Was brought on for Kane in the final 10 minutes. Did not have a huge impact coming on.
