Watford are expected to fight back when they take on West Ham United in a very interesting encounter this weekend. Both the clubs are currently in different ends of the league table but will have a unison goal of stealing all three points from this game.
The Hornets have had a very enthusiastic season under the tutelage of Marco Silva. They built a momentum which was crushed in the last two matches. They had to digest a defeat against Stoke City and squandered a two-goal lead against Everton as the Toffees came from behind to take away the game 3-2 in the last game-week.
On the other side, it will be the first test for David Moyes, who has been handed the charge following the departure of Slaven Bilic. His appointment was a surprising one as he failed to keep Sunderland in the Premier League last season and it is going to be a long, gruesome battle for him.
Watford have been a free-scoring side as they have found the net pretty often so the Hammers backline have a tough task to cut out. The Hornets start the game as the favourites but the Hammers do have the ammunition to disappoint them. Let’s have a look at three players who need to take extra responsibility for Watford if they are to take all three points from this game.
Andre Gray:
With Troy Deeney unavailable from suspension, the onus will be on Gray to take the team forward. The former Burnley man arrived at the Vicarage Road this summer but is yet to find his feet.
With just one goal ito his tally, he will definitely have a shot against a hapless Hammers defence, which has conceded 23 goals so far. Scoring goals has not been a problem for the Hornets and Gray would be hoping that he becomes a part of the scoring contingent.
Christian Kabasele:
Defence needs to be tightened up as the Hornets looked very shaky in the last match against Watford. With Javier Hernandez out with a hamstring injury, Andy Carroll is likely to lead the line and he will bring a different dimension to the game.
There are hardly any player with a better aerial prowess than the hammers striker and Kabasele will be well aware of that. The defender has performed pretty well this season but will have his work cut out this weekend.
Tom Cleverley:
The former Manchester United midfielder has emerged as a completely different player under Marco Silva, he will be sitting just behind the main striker and will provide the much-needed impetus from the middle of the park.
