West Ham United defender Angelo Ogbona has settled pretty well at the London Stadium and has emerged as a regular part of the core setup. The Italian defender arrived in East London back in 2015 from Juventus and has only developed his as a defender as days passed.
Slaven Bilic’s departure from the London Stadium could play a big part in his future. The Croatian was shown the door following a very poor start to this season. David Moyes has taken over the charge at the club and it is not very sure whether he wants him or not.
On the other hand, AC Milan are keeping a close look on him and according to reports, the Italian club are considering bringing the Italian defender back to his home nation. Ogbonna hasn’t featured much this season as the Hammers have been struggling to cope up.
Despite their grand spending in the summer, the Italian club has failed to take it up to the next level. Milan saw 11 new players arrive at the San Siro but despite their efforts, little has changed as they are currently seventh in the Serie-A table.
Ogbonna came through the youth system of Torino and featured in more than 150 games for the Italian side. His brilliant performances in the heart of the defence led him to sign for Juventus. But his performance dipped heavily and his stay in Turin was short lived. After a couple of seasons, he moved to the English soil to prove his worth.
Milan are looking for some smart investment in the January transfer window and Ogbonna has attracted their attention. He could be a utility player and given his past experience in the Serie-A, he will not need to make any extra preparation.
The Hammers don’t need to be panicked as the 29-year-old signed fresh terms this year with them which means Milan need to quote a big price to lure the player to Italy.
With Jose Fonte and James Collins injured, Moyes doesn’t have many options at his disposal and has to depend on Ogbonna at least for the next few matches.
Ogbonna needs to be played week in and week out as the Hammers are going to face a tough relegation fight. In this hectic season, Moyes is unlikely to part ways with him without proper replacement and as of now, the gaffer seems to be fending off interests from other clubs that might make the Italian leave the London Stadium.
