Everton are currently on the wrong side of the league table. With relegation scare looming ahead the Merseyside club would be hoping to survive the drop at the end of the season. Despite spending more than £140m, good days have been rare at the Goodison Park as the Toffees have failed to carve out a win in the last four matches in the Premier League.
Ronald Koeman was shown the door following a string of poor results and pressure is mounting on the club hierarchy as they are yet to announce who is going to be in charge next. However, It hasn’t stopped the club from being linked with players.
According to reports, Everton are taking interest in Sheffield United centre-back Sam Graham. The Merseyside club do have one of the coveted young setups in England. The Merseyside created ripples in the football circuit as they added defender duo Lewis Gibson and Nathangelo Markelo to their youth side and now they want to further strengthen their backline by bringing Graham into their fold.
The Toffees wrong-footed themselves a number of times especially when it comes to defending. Both Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka have been error-prone this season while the likes of Mason Holgate has been used to fill in the right back position.
Everton have a particular knack for bringing Blades products as they roped in Dominic Calvert-Lewin under the nose of the Championship clubs. They were also linked with Manchester City defender Tosin Adarabioyo but the youngster went on to pen a fresh deal to extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium.
Graham too pledged his future with the club in March this year and the club tied him to a new deal till 2020. Everton will need fresh faces in the team given both Williams and Jagielka are in their 30’s. They did bring Michel Keane in but the English international couldn’t do much due to the lack of a good partner in the backline.
Graham has been in excellent form for the Blades U23 squad and is expected to be inducted into the senior set-up in full force in the near future. The Merseyside club have scouted the player a number of times this season and are pretty impressed with his doings on the pitch.
Graham has emerged as one of the potential future stars and the Toffees are very determined to bring him to the Goodison Park in a bid to shake up their youth squad.
