Real Madrid’s turbulent start to the season hasn’t gone down well as the La Liga giants have the fear of losing their title to arch-rivals Barcelona. The Catalans’ emphatic run so far this season has gelled up well as they are currently leading the La Liga table with utter comfort.
Madrid’s form has been a matter of concern for president Florentino Perez and the Spaniard has reportedly initiated talks regarding the transfer of Torino striker Andrea Belotti.
The Italian international is a hot property in the transfer market and despite massive interest from a number of clubs in the summer, Torino managed to keep a hold on him.
But With Real Madrid’s growing interest in the player, the Italian club might face it difficult to retain the possession of Belotti and Torino president Urbano Cairo disclosed he had a chat with Perez over a possible transfer for Belotti.
“I was eating dinner with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and we were talking about contracts of players with huge release clauses and I mentioned Belotti.
“As soon as he heard of the clause for Belotti, who he didn’t know, it pricked his ears. If the clause had only been €20m, he wouldn’t have been interested.”
Belotti’s whopping release clause could be the reason why clubs failed with their attempt to rope in the player. Torino inserted a €100m release clause in his contract and it seems Madrid doesn’t have any problem in triggering the fee.
Karim Benzema’s erratic form continues to haunt the Galacticos in front of the goal and Perez might be looking to offload the player in a bid to fund Belotti’s transfer. With Zinedine Zidane opting for a 4-3-3 formation, it would be increasingly hard to fit in both the players and it is pretty evident Benzema is likely to sit out.
A fierce centre-forward who can tear apart any defence on his day, Belotti could be a sublime addition at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Italian international is a delight to watch and his bursting runs through the middle could be a vital factor in ending Real Madrid’s distraught run.
With arguably the best player in the world Cristiano Ronaldo by his side, Belotti can play more freely and help Los Merengues to turn the tide in their favour in the near future. With two of the deadliest goalscorers playing side by side for them, Real Madrid can boast of a formidable attack once again, something they have been missing out on since the start of the current season.
