Real Madrid’s disastrous start to this season hasn’t been received well by the supporters. Zinedine Zidane has failed to recapture the magic of the last season and it seems as if the team is losing its shine.
Zidane decided not to invest much in the summer as he had trust in the players present at his disposal. But a sudden dip in form has been a cause of grave concern for the Spanish giants and the French boss is likely to make a good use of the winter transfer window.
According to reports, the Galacticos are eyeing a deal for Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir. Madrid have been suffering from attacking hindrances and are in the dire need of reinforcements.
Fekir has attracted a number of suitors with his blistering display on the pitch and Real Madrid have also joined the race now. Currently, the Spanish giants only have Isco in the attacking midfield department and lack of adequate covers in that area might cause problems in near future.
Fluidity and flair have been missing from Madrid’s playing style this season and Zidane has prioritised the signing of a decorated attacking midfielder, who could ease the burden.
The 24-year old’s current contract is scheduled to run till 2020 and Lyon would be very reluctant to let him leave. The French club already saw their prime striker Alexandre Lacazette leave for Arsenal and losing Fekir would be a big step backwards from them.
Fekir is known for his trickery in the attacking third and his quality to take on any defence on his own has been the main reason behind his success. The French international primarily plays just behind the striker in the no. 10 position to provide the attacking thrust. However, he can effectively play anywhere in the attacking third, making himself one of the hottest prospects in the transfer market.
Arsenal are also contemplating a move for the French midfielder and he could be the second player from Lyon to arrive at the Emirates following the path of Lacazette.
Arsene Wenger is preparing for a double blow as both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil might leave the North London club and Fekir could be an imminent replacement.
Fekir expressed his interest in playing in the Premier League or La Liga and might be interested in a move. “When you are from Lyon, the only French club that you are interested in is Lyon.
“There is nothing that tempts you more than that… Spain and England. Those are the two most attractive leagues, where they love football.”
