Real Madrid are reportedly readying a huge war chest of €200 million for PSG superstar Neymar. The Los Blancos are a team known to spend big and undertake everything in their power to land their prime targets. Neymar moved to the French capital just last summer for world record fee of €222 million from Barcelona. A move seems highly unlikely at this point, but the recent fallout with PSG manager Unai Emery and colleague Cavani could make things slightly tricky. Whether Real Madrid really needs him is a huge question on one hand and on the other, how is it any different from PSG?
Real Madrid have superstars all over the pitch and are overflowing with talent anywhere you see. It is hard to see how Neymar would fit in and gel with the squad. For all we know, Neymar likes to be in the thick of things, but with Ronaldo being the centre of attraction, it is hard to distinguish the difference with his current club and the problems there.
Previously, Neymar had the backing and telepathic understanding with his partners Messi and Suarez but it’s hard to decode the same in his current club and Real Madrid as well.
Real Madrid’s transfer policy has changed drastically since Zidane took over the realms. The Frenchman has spent just €46.5 million on incomings, a figure usually associated to a single transfer. He has not only been paltry with the incomings but offloaded a quite a few of their stars while earning a mammoth €124 million.
Lack of big-name signings and injuries to its star players has hampered Real Madrid’s performances this term both in the Champions League and La Liga. They find themselves 8 points adrift of their arch-rivals Barcelona after just 11 games. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez might be tempted to invest big following Real’s bumpy start to the season.
Despite the problems that Neymar has encountered in his PSG career, he has endured a bright start in the French capital bagging 11 goals coupled with 9 assists in his 12 appearances overall. It is hard to imagine the Brazilian superstar to move to the Spanish capital next summer for a variety of reasons, one being his rivalry with the Catalans, something of a nightmare to even think of.
Zidane has however spoken highly of Neymar on a number of occasions, branding his as “irreplaceable” for Barcelona. But whether his admiration for the Brazilian will induce him to go all out next summer is an altogether different issue.
