After a week full of exciting International matches, the Bundesliga is set to be back underway this weekend with Borussia Dortmund kicking off the matchday 12 as they travel to Stuttgart for a Friday night encounter.
Head coach Peter Bosz will be looking to put past his side’s recent misery, having failed to win six of their last seven games. Although the Dutchman sounded rather confident about his side’s form in the recent interview, losing points against Stuttgart could place his job on the line.
Borussia Dortmund are currently third in the table, trailing second-placed Leipzig by two points while leading Schalke by just a superior goal difference. While, it will be a sweet moment for Stuttgart head coach Hannes Wolf, who worked as a youth coach for Dortmund before taking on the Stuttgart job last season.
Here’s the predicted Borussia Dortmund lineup that might feature against Die Swabians.
Defence
Roman Burki will feature in goal for Dortmund. The Swiss goalkeeper isn’t having the best of seasons right now, despite the backing of the club and the head coach himself. He’ll be looking to prove a point this Friday.
Lukasz Piszczek and Erik Durm still remain on the sidelines, meaning Marc Bartra could once again feature the right back, while Marcel Schmelzer starts on the right. The centre-back partnership will comprise of Sokratis and Omer Toprak.
Dortmund defence needs to remain focused if they are to prevail against the high octane attacking side in Stuttgart.
Midfield
It will be interesting to see as to who starts as the holding midfield for Dortmund. Julian Weigl was absolutely awful against Bayern in the last matchday, which could pave way for Nuri Sahin to start against Stuttgart this week.
Mario Gotze is likely to be given a rest following international duty with Germany, although the German International might come on as a sub later on. Gonzalo Castro and Shinji Kagawa are expected to partner Nuri Sahin in central midfield.
Attack
Dortmund’s attacking lineup will consist of Alexander Isak leading the line as star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is ruled out for the clash for disciplinary issues.
Christian Pulisic and Andriy Yarmolenko will flank the Swedish youngster in the offensive positions. American sensation Pulisic has probably been the best player for Dortmund this season and will need to take the onus of leading for the Black and Yellow brigade to a much-needed victory in their next match against Stuttgart.
