Leeds United’s miserable run came to an end as they got the better off Middlesbrough to end their distraught run. Garry Monk’s return to Elland Road turned out to be a bitter one as his former club won against Boro and the Whites ended their three-match winning run in style.
This was a make or break match for Thomas Christiansen’s side who lost the pace in keeping themselves updated for a place in the playoff spot. Back to back defeats in the last three matches frustrated Christiansen a lot and this win would offer him a hope of revival.
However, Leeds United have to keep the momentum going as they are scheduled to visit the Molineux Stadium to take on the current league leaders Wolves. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are dominating the Championship and Leeds have to be on the top of their form to grind out a result there.
The Whites are still in contention for a playoff spot and this match could prove to be a key factor this season.
Predicted 4-2-3-1 Leeds United Lineup Against Wolves
Defence
Andy Lonergan had a quite busy afternoon at Elland Road and the 34-year-old will continue under the bar in the next match.
Pontus Jansson arguably is the best defender for the Whites and the defender made his presence felt with a crucial clearance right at the end of the match against Boro.
Liam Cooper has been an ever-present in the Whites backline and the gaffer would need his service in a bid to stop the efficient Wolves attacking lineup.
Luke Ayling should start on the right side of the defence while Gaetano Berardi will find himself on the left side.
Midfield
Ronaldo Vieira has brought a sense of stability to the midfield. The 19-year-old happened to be one of the Christiansen faithful and is likely to make it to the starting lineup.
Kalvin Phillips will be responsible for the creative part of the midfield.
Attack
Pablo Hernandez played a pivotal part in the last match against the Teessiders as he scored one and set up another to set the stage for a smooth rolling. The Spanish playmaker will have the chance to justify his selection once again.
Ezgjan Alioski started on the left flank and is expected to start there.
Samu Saiz should start in the No. 10 position.
Kemar Roofe gave a very good account of himself in the last match and he should be reinstated in this match.
