Paulo Dybala has thrown his future into the pit of uncertainty by refusing to commit his long-term stay at Juventus. The left-footed Argentine has been compared to Messi on several occasions for their similar stature and nature of football. Dybala has been in imperious form for Juventus this season and is finally living up to his potential of becoming a world-class player.
The news breaking out about Dybala’s future has certainly alerted the top clubs across Europe. However, given the inflated state of the current market, not many of them will be able to afford the Argentine. Neymar recently broke the 200 million mark for a footballer’s transfer price and Dybala would be expected to go somewhere near about that region, at least if he chooses to leave Juventus.
Not to belittle the financial or the global power of any club, but even amongst the top outfits of European football, only a handful will be able to pull off such a high-profile transfer. Let us look at the few options Dybala will probably have in England, should he seek to play in the English Premier League.
Manchester City
Where better to play than under the man who oversaw the development of Lionel Messi from an exceptional talent into a multiple Ballon d’Or winner. Developments of different managerial patterns in the existing game would suggest that the best place for Dybala right now would be Etihad where Pep Guardiola is deploying another masterclass of attacking display to win the league title. Guardiola, known for his attacking prowess as a manager and the habit of playing teams who can hold on to the ball for weeks at a time, would be the perfect mentor for Dybala, helping him to realize his true potential and turn on his best game for the world to see.
Manchester United
If Dybala were to move, of the many suitors, one is likely to be Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United. The Red Devils were in the market for a winger and having Dybala in the league, which Mourinho knows inside out, as a part of the Red Devils, will propose a daunting prospect for the opposition.
Dybala will complete the team consisting the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Paul Pogba and it would be dream come true for United fans to see a team of such raw pace and power, rain in goals at Old Trafford. All this, of course, will only happen given a move is made and Dybala chooses Manchester United over the other suitors.
Chelsea
Should Dybala make a move to the West London club, he will feature in a top three along with Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard, a trio that would drive terror into the hearts of any Premier League defence. The Stamford Bridge faithful will be dreaming of a possible combination play between Hazard and Dybala and the duo on their day can rip apart defence to shreds.
If Chelsea were to get Dybala on their roster, Conte will be expected to have a fair crack at the Champions League trophy, a prize that has averted the English clubs since Chelsea last won it back in the 2011-12 season. Moreover, Chelsea could definitely do with a player like Dybala up front, especially since neither Pedro nor Willian looks like they have the ability in them to take Chelsea to the pinnacle of any major trophy anymore.
