David Moyes will have a daunting task ahead of him as the manager has been hired by West Ham United to steer them towards safety. The former Everton manager replaced Slaven Bilic who had to part ways with the club after he failed to meet the club’s expectation.
Moyes’ primary aim would be to ensure safety first for the Hammers and for this he would need a new crop of players. According to reports, Moyes is interested in bringing forward Danny Ings from Liverpool.
The former Burnley man hasn’t played for Liverpool in a long time and it would take a bit for him to rewind his form. The 25-year-old has, however, featured in some matches for the Liverpool reserves of late and it might be the best time for West Ham to make a move for him.
The Reds are unlikely to let him go permanently, so a short-term loan might be ideal for both parties. Despite roping in the likes of Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic, the east Londoners have failed to make a major impact and are currently lying in the relegation zone.
Moyes adores Ings very much and he tried to bring the player in when he was at the helm of Real Sociedad back in 2015. This time, however, he might be able to get him for a much cheaper price.
The centre-forward arrived at the Anfield in the summer of 2015 but as a matter of frustration, he hasn’t had the opportunity to show his worth. Ings had two major surgeries following his move to Liverpool and has been working tirelessly to make his way back towards full fitness.
Liverpool are already well stocked with attackers, having the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho dominating the proceedings. So right now, it is a bit difficult for Ings to cut into the senior team.
Klopp won’t block his move as the player would be more than happy to have some playing time under his belt. Andy Carroll hasn’t found the back of the net pretty often and Chicharito has been mostly used on the wings while his ideal position is more central up front.
There has been lack of intent in the attacking third from the Hammers and Ings’ arrival could boost their chances in this gruesome season. On the other hand, Klopp would definitely want the player get more appearances in the starting lineup to improve his game.
Bournemouth are also linked to the player and might test Liverpool’s resolve in January.
