Manchester United have stepped up their pursuit for Brazilian youngster Malcom by sending scouts to watch him in action last weekend. The Bordeaux starlet has been in sensational form in the Ligue 1 this season, attracting the interest of many top clubs around Europe.
German giants Borussia Dortmund had identified the 20-year-old as the replacement for Ousmane Dembele before they settled for Andriy Yarmolenko. With the winter transfer window approaching, clubs will once again battle it out for the services of Malcom as it seems.
Manchester United, in particular, are in dire need of a classy attacker in their ranks at the moment. Despite starting the campaign in an impressive fashion, the Red Devils have often been bogged down due to their lack of supply in the offensive department.
Even though Jose Mourinho’s side are targeting a lot of world-class attackers such as Antoine Griezmann and Gareth Bale, it’s Malcom’s acquisition which could really aid the club in the long run.
The former Corinthians prodigy has raised a lot of eyebrows in the French top division this season, scoring five goals and providing four assists. In fact, he has been one of the most influential figures in the offensive departing in French football this season.
Generally an attacking midfielder, Malcom loves to influence the game with fluidic movements and dynamism in the final third. He loves to play short passes with teammates in close quarters and is a player who loves to combine with his teammates in dangerous areas. His key pass contribution is what makes him a dangerous player. Add to it his finishing, Malcom is destined to be a star in the years to come.
Furthermore, Malcom is also a very versatile attacker, who can play across any position in the offensive zones. The 20-year-old has played as a right winger for the most part of this season for Bordeaux. However, his main asset is to influence the game from the number ten spot. He is very neat with his passing and has the ability to completely bamboozle the opposition defence with cutting edge through balls.
There’s no doubt that Malcom can thrive under the leadership of Jose Mourinho, given the fact that he will have the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku to feed his services to. Although, the Red Devils might have to spend a fortune in order to register his services since his current contract with the club expires in 2021.
