Manchester United’s woeful winless tale at the Bridge for half a decade continued as Alvaro Morata’s solitary goal sealed a massive win for Chelsea. The Red Devils were dismal on the night and here’s how they’ve been rated:-
Manchester United Players Rated And Slated
GK: David De Gea – 7.5/10
Kept the margin from increasing and made a few notable saves to deny Morata and Hazard’s efforts.
RWB: Antonio Valencia – 3/10
Largely ineffective and he couldn’t even trouble Alonso whenever he got the ball. Abysmal.
CB: Eric Bailly – 6/10
Kept a firm grip on Eden Hazard and tracked him throughout. Tidy and reliable.
CB: Chris Smalling – 3/10
Struggled to cope with the clever feet of Morata and lost him completely for his goal.
CB: Phil Jones – 6.5/10
Gave away a few silly fouls but he looked to be the best defender today.
LWB: Ashley Young – 4/10
Troubled Zappacosta early on but he wasn’t even in the game as the match went on.
CM: Ander Herrera – 6/10
Defended well and ran his lungs out but it all went in vain.
CM: Nemanja Matic – 8/10
Tried his best to control the proceedings in the middle but he was overwhelmed. He’s maintained his consistency and he needs his teammates to step up.
CAM: Henrikh Mkhitaryan – 1/10
Not at all influential. Disgusting.
FW: Marcus Rashford – 5/10
Created some trouble with his movements but the end product was underwhelming to a large extent.
FW: Romelu Lukaku – 3/10
Hardly got any service and he obviously couldn’t make an impact due to that. Had an early effort which was saved by Courtois.
Substitutes –
FW: Anthony Martial – 4/10
Didn’t get the freedom or space to try to influence the game.
CM: Marouane Fellaini – 6/10
A little casual and rusty but his presence was undoubtedly noticeable. He did well to fend off the defenders later on and have a huge chance which was saved by Courtois. United need him badly.
LWB: Jesse Lingard – N/A
Came on late and can’t be rated.
