Manchester United and Arsenal are set to battle it out for the services of FC Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira. The 26-year-old was a part of Portugal’s European Champions winning side last year and is apparently a key figure in Porto’s dominance in the league this season.
The Dragões are currently leading the Liga NOS table, and Danilo Pereira has been one of the best players in the league this season. Danilo’s current contract with the club expires in 2022, meaning he could worth a fortune right now. However, considering how good he has performed this season, the Premier League clubs might just be tempted to splash the cash for the Portuguese International.
Manchester United head coach Jose Mourinho is known to be an admirer for the Portuguese midfielder. The former Real Madrid head coach has been monitoring the progress of Danilo for quite some time now, and it may be the perfect time to snatch him up.
Even though, the Red Devils bagged a bargain in the transfer market this summer, when they snatched up Nemanja Matic from Chelsea, they still desperately need a midfielder who can compliment the Serbian International in midfield.
Danilo has all the qualities to shine or even evolve as a better outlet compared to Matic at Manchester United.
Pereira is a powerful enforcer, one who looks to impose himself in the battle for superiority in the heart of midfield. His physical prowess is what sticks out the most. The midfielder has a huge figure of 6ft 2 inches, which can be very intimidating for opposing midfielder. Furthermore, Danilo is incredibly strong with his tackling or duels in the middle of the park, which is perfectly suited for the Premier League.
His instinct to snuff out danger could prove to be very useful for Jose Mourinho’s side while the Portuguese International is also very decent on the ball. Danilo can often start quick counter attacks too in order to catch the opposition by surprise.
Danilo’s defensive solidity is what makes him a unique character in mind. His strengthen and domination in midfield definitely makes a lot of sense for not just Manchester United but for any Premier League club to sign him up.
Although a January move for the 26-year-old seems a bit over the top, the Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho will be desperate to have him at his disposal next summer.
