Pep Guardiola has assembled a master class team at the Etihad. Since his arrival last year, there has been a great deal of hype around the coach who has won it all in Spain and Germany with multiple Champions Leagues to boot. As he assembled an expensive squad last season by adding his pearls to City’s already star-studded line-up, everyone expected Guardiola to conquer England as well. Despite playing some attractive football, his team failed in the final third and City were left without any trophies.
Things are looking very different this time around with Guardiola’s latest additions appearing to have done the trick. The manager has now implemented his playing style on some world class players and the results are there for everyone to see. City are undefeated in England and Europe this season. They are playing some serious football with no one spared from their relentless attacking style of play.
They have scored over 50 goals already and are yet to hit top gear. The likes of De Bruyne, Sane and Jesus have taken their game to the next level with De Bruyne especially looking unstoppable every time he gets the ball.
City have already qualified for the next stage of the Champions League but Guardiola kept his side’s momentum going with another win in their midweek clash against Feyenoord.
Here is how the Citizens will look to line up for their match against Huddersfield Town.
Formation: 4-3-3
Defence
Ederson will be back in goal after keeping yet another clean sheet in the midweek clash. Kyle Walker is expected to play at the right-back position with Fabian Delph expected to be back to occupy his usual left back role. Pep will look to bring in Vincent Kompany in place of Eliaquim Mangala at the centre back position as he looks to rotate the squad with Nicolas Otamendi expected to play as the other centre back.
Midfield
Pep will have many options to choose from here as he will look to bring back his first-team stars. He will most probably opt for Fernandinho as the holding central midfielder with David Silva likely to be one of the two other players in the middle. The third position is likely to go to Kevin De Bruyne.
Attack
Sergio Aguero who got a start for the midweek match after being kept on the bench against Leicester City might again be replaced by Gabriel Jesus at centre-forward. He will be flanked by Leroy Sane along with Raheem Sterling.
