Pep Guardiola is finally delivering at the Etihad. Since his arrival last year, there has been a great deal of hype around the coach who has won it all in Spain and Germany with multiple Champions League titles to boot. As he assembled an expensive squad last season by adding his pearls to City’s already star-studded line-up, everyone expected Guardiola to conquer England as well. Despite playing some attractive football, his team failed in the final third and City were left without any trophies.
Things are looking very different this time around with Guardiola’s latest additions appearing to have done the trick. The manager has now implemented his playing style on some world class players and the results are there for everyone to see. City are undefeated in England and Europe this season. They are playing some sensational football, sparing no one from their relentless attacking style of play.
They have scored over 50 goals already and are yet to hit top gear. The likes of De Bruyne, Sane and Jesus have taken their game to the next level with De Bruyne especially looking unstoppable every time he gets the ball.
City have already qualified for the next stage of the Champions League but Guardiola will want to clinch that top spot as well and so, despite Guardiola promising several changes, we can expect City to come charging out again this midweek when they face Feyenoord.
Here is how the Citizens will look to line up for their fifth Champions League match of the season.
Formation: 4-3-3
Defence
Claudio Bravo could be seen in goal as Ederson might be given a well-deserved rest.
Danilo is expected to play at the right-back position with Fabian Delph occupying the usual left back role. Pep will look to bring in Eliaquim Mangala at the centre back position, as he looks to rotate the squad with Nicolas Otamendi expected to play as the other centre back.
Midfield
Pep will have many options to choose from here as he will look to freshen things up. He will most probably opt for Yaya Toure as the holding central midfielder with Ilkay Gundogan likely to be one of the two other players in the middle. The third position is likely to go to Kevin De Bruyne, as Pep will not want to stop the Belgian from playing when he is in such imperious form.
Attack
Sergio Aguero is likely to get a start for the match after being kept on the bench against Leicester City. He will be flanked by Bernardo Silva along with a probable start for young Brahim Diaz.
