Ryan Kent could be forced to return to his parent club Liverpool, who are not impressed with how his season has shaped so far. The 21-year-old is out on loan with German side Freiburg but he has done very little to impress in the Bundesliga.
Jurgen Klopp is particularly very protective about his youngsters and he wants to have the player back in January, due to lack of game time. Kent is very well heralded at Anfield and he could be back to the club’s fold in January. This might be a great chance for Leeds United, who have been widely linked with the player in the summer.
Kent hasn’t been able to fulfil his potential and Leeds might be ready to offer the player a stage to make an impact. The Championship side have had a very topsy-turvy season and Thomas Christiansen would like to have some more fresh faces when the transfer window opens in January.
The 21-year-old would have loved to have some first team game time, which could have further boosted his chances, but he has so far made only one start this season in Germany. Kent will be desperate for regular game time but present condition won’t allow him a place in the starting lineup at Anfield, as Liverpool already have handful options in the attacking department.
Leeds are currently in the midst of a turmoil campaign. The Whites have failed to maintain their near-perfect start as they have been struggling pretty heavily in the Championship. Two wins out of the last four matches speak volumes about their form and Christiansen will be seeking some new player to add some depth to his side.
Kent is basically a left winger but he can be pretty effective across the front three. Hiss potential availability would be a boost for Leeds as Klopp might entertain a loan plea for the youngster. The 21-year-old was with Barnsley last season and had a very good run in the second tier.
Leeds are about to enter the busiest phase of this season and Christiansen would love to as many options as he can in his attack. A number of Championship clubs like of Sheffield United and Middlesbrough are also in the race and Leeds might face a stiff fight to land the Liverpool man come January.
