Liverpool FC have made recent contacts regarding the availability of PSG midfielder Julian Draxler, as they rekindle their interest in the German attacking sensation.
Draxler has been rumoured to be unhappy at PSG, especially after the arrival of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. Even though the former Schalke youth prodigy is a preferred choice over Di Maria and Javier Pastore, there’s every chance that Draxler could be looking for newer pastures, as the winter transfer window beckons.
Jurgen Klopp could make a move for his fellow countryman in January as they look to strengthen their attacking department. But is this the right choice by the German mastermind?
Julian Draxler has been one of the most promising attacking talents in Germany for quite some time now. After rising through the youth ranks as well as the first team for his hometown club, FC Schalke, the 24-year-old has come a long way to becoming one of the most intriguing players in German football right now.
Even though the winger has fallen down the pecking order at Paris Saint Germain, the former Wolfsburg man still packs a lot of punch and could actually become ‘the one’ Liverpool have been looking for a long time now.
The Reds are all set to lose star playmaker Coutinho, who has been heavily linked with a move to FC Barcelona next summer. However, the addition of someone as good as Julian Draxler in the Brazilian’s place could definitely lift up the morales of not just the club but the fans as well.
Unlike his younger days, Julian Draxler has matured in his game a lot, whilst still having the same quality he possessed during his time at Schalke. Most notably, the 24-year-old led his country to FIFA Confederations Cup triumph earlier this summer, also winning the Golden Boot in the process.
Great on the ball and fast on the break, Draxler has everything it needs to thrive under the Gegenpressing system of Jurgen Klopp. Liverpool’s stunning attacking trio of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah has looked unstoppable at times this season and the addition of Julian Draxler will surely make Liverpool one of the most feared attacking teams in Europe.
As for Draxler himself, the player is determined to be selected in the Germany squad for next year’s World Cup and Liverpool FC will offer him a perfect stage where he can showcase his talents to the fans of English as well as world football.
