David Brooks of Sheffield United has a number of clubs interested in him. The Welsh midfielder is in impressive form and has helped his team enjoy a brilliant start to their season. Sheffield United are currently second in the table and a possible promotion to the English Premier League next season looks likely if they keep playing like this.
The 20-year midfielder has been pivotal for Sheffield this season and it is being reported that a number of big-name clubs, including Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, are interested in snapping up the youngster. Brooks might be actively chased by Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino come January and it is being reported he will cost around £20 million.
Brooks helped improve his stock last week on his full debut for the Wales national team by swooping the Man of the Match award against Panama in Cardiff on Tuesday. Sheffield United, it seems, predicted the growth of the youngster and has tied down the Welsh midfielder with a new four-year deal to prevent him joining other clubs, at least not until they get a hefty amount for him.
The midfielder has a good first touch and a keen ability to score key goals from time to time. It is this sense of timing to arrive in the box at the right time that has also seen the attacking midfielder play as a second striker on occasions. Brooks was initially a Manchester City youth product but completed his move to Sheffield back in the month of July in 2014.
He has had to go out on loan to Halifax town in order to get more game time and it seems now that the midfielder is not only ready for Sheffield but will soon outgrow them and seek the chance to play for a big European club.
He has just scored one goal this season but that is, however, a poor review of exactly how influential he has been in the team. He has helped the attack tick for Sheffield United and has set up three assists for the Blades.
A move to Klopp’s Liverpool will surely tempt Brooks should Klopp come calling. The German is known for his ability to hone young talent into future stars. He has done the same thing at Liverpool and is already overseeing the growth of young talents like Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Dominic Solanke and many more.
However, a move to Liverpool will mean having to spend a significant amount of time on the bench, as Liverpool are already well stocked in attack and that could hamper the growth of Brooks.
