Leicester City are clawing their way back to the top half of the Premier League, having started this season on a lowly note and losing four matches so far. With two consecutive wins and a hard-fought draw in their last three matches, the Foxes are on course to ending the season on a respectable position in the league table.
The new manager Claude Puel has started to make subtle changes to the side to bring out the best from his players and one of his masterstrokes was to use Demarai Gray in the starting lineup in his very first match in charge, against Everton. It proved to be a superb move for the Foxes, as the young English winger made his presence felt throughout the whole stretch of the match and scored the winner on the night.
The 21-year-old is one of the brightest young prospects in the squad for the Foxes but was seldom used in the starting lineup by the former manager Craig Shakespeare. However, it seems that under Puel, the player might get much-deserved chances to start games and might take the field on a regular basis as a part of the attack for the Foxes in the near future.
There is more good news in stock for Gray, as the English youngster has agreed to sign a new four-year deal to stay at the King’s Power Stadium. It is a good decision on the part of the club, as they will have the chance to get the best out of the speedster in the near future.
The move has been lauded by the French manager as a “good one” and it is evident from his profound interest in working with the 21-year-old winger this season. He is well aware of the fact that Gray has been the subject of interest from a number of Premier League clubs. Having fended off all the interests, Puel can now concentrate on using him more effectively.
The young winger was evidently disappointed with the lack of starts that he had, since his arrival at the club in the last term from Birmingham City. But given his hard work and dedication, the player has finally earned a place in the starting lineup and has also signed a new long-term contract with the former Premier League champions. Hopefully, this will provide the player with the impetus to perform better on the pitch in the near future.
