Thomas Christiansen’s maiden stint as the Leeds United manager might lead them to the Championship playoffs but for that, they need to find some consistency, for the rest of the season.
Leeds are currently on a very poor run in the Championship as they have spoiled all their plans with mediocre results recently. The Yorkshire giants were thrashed 4-1 at the hands of Wolves and if things go like this, they are certainly staying in the second tier for another season.
Christiansen is unlikely to give up and he is expected to weigh his options in January. A number of players are linked with a move to the club and recently, Leeds have been linked with Holstein Kiel frontman Marvin Ducksch. The striker has been in fine form in Bundesliga Two and Leeds are keeping a close eye on him.
Their scouts had a brief look at the player as they were in Germany when Holstein Kiel took on Nurnberg. Leeds have the knack of unearthing unknown talents for cut-price fees as they brought in Pawel Cibicki and Jay-Roy Grot in the summer.
The Yorkshire giants saw their star performer Chris Wood joining Burnley and since then, have been crying for goals. Their miserable display in front of the goal has remained one of the key problems which need to be rectified.
Ducksch has already lit up the Bundesliga second tier with his scoring antics as the Borussia Dortmund graduate has racked up 11 goals this term, firing his team to the top of the second tier.
The 23-year-old moved to his current club on loan from St Pauli and is expected to join his parent club once the season ends.
Pierre-Michel Lasogga has invited sheer criticism for his lack of intent in front of the goals while Kemar Roofe hasn’t been a regular for the side. So the gaffer has some urgent requirement upfront and the German striker could bring some positive fortune to the Elland Road.
Standing at six feet three, he offers a significant aerial threat but needs to work on his speed and athleticism as games in the second tier can be very demanding at times. Leeds promotional hopes have been hovering in dark clouds and they need to have a good run of games to keep them in contention for a playoff berth.
The Whites are sitting on a stash of cash, which they received from the selling of Woods and they might be in the need of that when the transfer window reopens in January.
