In one of the latest news put forth by the Express, Championship outfit, Leeds United, had recently launched a bid of £180,000 plus add-ons for Lech Poznan’s dazzling and blossoming youngster, Kamil Jozwiak. Jozwiak’s contract with his current employers expires in the summer and despite the apparent interest from Leeds, Poznan are reluctant to strike him off their books before his deal expires, owing to the calibre he has showcased for them so far.
Poznan president Karol Klimczak said: “I can confirm that we got this offer (from Leeds), but I firmly believe that we are not interested in parting with Kamil in the winter.”
The player’s representative has however rejected a four-year deal which has resulted in Poznan releasing the following statement.
“It is a painful loss for us, it is difficult for us to understand this decision and we are disappointed.
“Kamil in the colours of Lech developed harmoniously, got a chance to perform in the first team, taste the European cups, received calls to the youth of Poland.
“In spite of the weaker form in the last few months, we still trusted him, and we wanted to keep him connected to him for a long time.”
”Of course, we will keep our fingers crossed and, despite regret, we wish him good luck.”
Leeds United should be in the mood to make the deal cross the line in the upcoming transfer window, although the Railwayman aren’t willing to comply. The West Yorkshire-based outfit have been vouching for players far and wide and Polish players have really appealed them lately. In recent times, they brought two quality players in the shapes of Mateusz Klich and Kamil Miazek and as far as the recent reports take us, Jozwiak seems to be the next one to keep the trend up and running.
After making a sizzling start to their season under the stewardship of Thomas Christiansen, Leeds United started to behave in a timorous fashion and after three losses on the trot (comprising of defeats against Sheffield United, Derby County and Brentford), they have fallen considerably. At this stroke of the hour, the Peacocks are currently placed at the 10th spot in the league table with 23 points to their name after 16 games. Christiansen is under immense pressure and some sort of resurrection is the call of the hour.
The January transfer window would hold paramount importance for Leeds United as that would offer them the requisite pedestal to refill their arsenal and as of now, it appears that Jozwiak would be one of the players to be targeted. The 19-year-old is creating a lot of buzz while plying his trade for Poznari, and has also featured regularly for the Poland’s U17, U18 and U19 sides as well. Capable of operating effectively from either wing, his attacking prowess has appealed a lot of spectators.
Jozwiak has scored a goal in just 3 Ekstraklasa outings so far this season and could be a good addition for Leeds United, albeit for the future. However, the caveat is that he lacks experience and isn’t familiar with English football. Besides, he is far from being a finished product, and frankly speaking, Christiansen needs to lure proven players with considerable pedigree rather than going for starlets who aren’t known much or haven’t proven themselves sufficiently.
