With the January transfer window just around the corner, Manchester United are looking to inject a much-needed boost in their efforts to fight for the Premier League title. After a steady start to their Premier League campaign, Manchester United come into November eight points adrift of league leaders, Manchester City. The Red Devils have struggled to find form in the recent weeks and are now in the market for a promising attacker.
Jose Mourinho has set his sights on the signing of Valencia star, Carlos Soler. The Spanish Under-21 international has impressed so far this season, notching up with 12 first team appearances for Valencia.
Having made his debut in the season opener against UD Las Palmas, he was the creative spark and came up with an all-important assist, which helped his team win the match by a one goal margin.
Since then, the 20 year old has never looked back and is now enjoying a rich vein of form. According to the reports, his performances have caught the attention of the United manager and the Red Devils are now thinking that his creative qualities in the midfield are exactly what that they are looking for, to improve their chances of a successful season.
It is also being reported that Jose Mourinho is looking to persuade Valencia to sell for a much lower price than their hefty £40million price tag. A cash plus player swap deal which will include Andreas Pereira, who’s currently enjoying his loan spell at Valencia looks to be on the cards, which would see him move permanently to the Mestalla.
United have struggled with injuries this season and have seen the likes of Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini miss out on crucial matches. Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata have also gone through a dip in their form, which has piled on the pressure for Jose Mourinho to respond. The lack of depth in the midfield has concerned the United boss, and so, the deal looks likely to take place in January.
Soler is highly versatile and can play all across the midfield, which makes him an ideal target for Mourinho’s men.
The Oranges are under no pressure to sell and have demanded a straight up fee somewhere in the region of £40million. However, the La Liga outfit has recently incurred losses in the region of £65million which might force them to sell their prized youngster.
Carlos Soler has scored once and assisted four times for Valencia this term, and is under contract until June 2021.
