With the transfer window all set to open again in a few weeks time, there’s been a lot of speculation with regards to the futures of some superstar football players. None bigger than Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale, who is reportedly seeking a way out of the Spanish capital.
The Daily Mirror recently reported that the Galacticos have slapped a £85 million price tag on their Welsh attacker, Gareth Bale. Sources say that Manchester United were monitoring his situation but now, Arsenal are urged to join in on the race to secure the superstar’s services.
Former Premier League midfielder, David Bentley has urged Arsene Wenger to spend big this summer.
The Welshman has struggled to find form this season and has been subject to a lot of criticism recently. He has also suffered quite a number of injuries during this past year and is currently spending time on the sidelines. He is not expected to be back until the new year.
However, David Bentley, who has represented both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur during his playing career, said that Gareth Bale would be the perfect fit for the Gunners.
In an exclusive interview with 888sport, Bentley said: “If there was an option of going for Gareth Bale – who is available and can have an effect long-term – then Arsenal will pay the wages.”
The former England international added, “Bale can do everything and is one of the best players I’ve ever seen. He’s also commercially good. If they can get him for £86m they can more than manage the £300,000 a week or whatever he’s on. That would be the player I’d target.”
According to Spanish transfer outlet Don Balon, if Cristiano Ronaldo departs Real Madrid, Gareth Bale will follow in his footsteps and leave the club as well. They also claim that Gareth Bale is not happy with the treatment he has received from Real Madrid during his injury spells.
It remains to be seen if the Gunners make an ambitious approach for the Welsh international. The asking price is well within their range and the wage demands shouldn’t be a big issue. But whether Gareth Bale would want to join Arsenal, with a whole host of clubs gunning for his signature, is something that only time can tell. Arsenal can’t offer Champions League football this term like some of their competitors, so a deal looks unlikely in January.
Having said that, the former Saint has made a total of 416 career appearances, scoring 131 goals and making 125 assists. With the Gunners struggling to compete for the top 4 places in the Premier League, Gareth Bale could be the man who can fire them to Champions League football next season.
But is he a viable option for the Gunners?
