Arsenal warmed themselves up in style prior to their match against arch-rivals Manchester United on Sunday. The Gunners put in a convincing display as they hit Huddersfield Town for 5-0. This match was supposed to be the preparatory scene for the big match and it seemed the Gunners are quite well oiled before the high voltage match. Alexandre Lacazette fired home very early as he drew the first blood.
Fellow Frenchman Olivier Giroud added another while Alexis Sanchez scored the third. Mesut Ozil rounded up the fourth while Giroud completed the rout with his second of the night.
Followed are the ratings for the Arsenal players on the night of a memorable win.
Peter Cech- 7
Commanded the area well and was well aware of the threat. The big Czech didn’t really get tested and didn’t have to make too many saves. A clean sheet is always better for a keeper’s morale.
Laurent Koscielny- 7
The French international had a solid game in the backline. He was an undisputed leader on the pitch and made a number of vital interceptions.
Shkodran Mustafi- 7
Since he came back from injury, he has been a pretty influential figure in this Gunners side. Wasn’t an exception to that tonight as well.
Nacho Monreal- 6
Put on a solid display, to say the least.
Hector Bellerin- 6
Was always ready to initiate attacks as he made some good runs down the flanks. However, the end product was not as desired.
Sead Kolasinac-7
Struggled initially but his compact performance in the second half should provide hope to Arsene Wenger. Laid out a ball for Giroud as he racked up an assist.
Granit Xhaka- 7
Commendable performance as he pulled the plug in the midfield on opposition build-ups.
Aaron Ramsey- 7.5
Provided the quality as his creative instincts in the midfield piled on problems for the Terriers. His cheeky flick for Lacazette’s opener was a touch of class. Also provided another assist for Mesut Ozil.
Mesut Ozil- 8.5
Was a constant thorn for the Terriers defence as he looked on a song. The German international sharpened his skills before the Manchester United match with his effortless display on the pitch. His delayed runs into the boxes created chaos in the Huddersfield attacking third and the German playmaker made things look pretty simple. Assisted two goals and also added one to his tally.
Alexis Sanchez- 7
The Chilean international had better days in the Gunners’ shirt. Worked tirelessly but the end product was not that good.
Alexandre Lacazette- 7
Provided the thurst and got one early to start the proceedings. Had to be subbed off as he picked up a knock.
Substitutes:
Olivier Giroud- 7
Two goals will help him boost his confidence.
