Arsenal’s erratic season might not have gone down well with the supporters but that hasn’t stopped Arsene Wenger from experimenting things. The French tactician has sporadically used Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Reiss Nelson and a number of other employees has been included in a number of match day squads.
With their chances of lifting the Premier League slowly diminishing, Wenger is eyeing to build a youthful squad for the next season and is monitoring some exciting talents. According to reports, The Gunners are extensively scouting Middlesbrough youngster Marcus Tavernier.
The youngster has impressed with his display on the pitch and has been attracting interest from a number of clubs. Tavernier has already broken into the England U19 side and has left everyone spellbound with his sizzling performance.
He has also been a part of Garry Monk’s plans at the Riverside Stadium and scored the winner against Sunderland this season. As Boro are planning a hectic battle for promotion, Monk won’t let him leave in the midst of a season.
They are due to face Leeds United in a very crucial clash on Sunday and Monk might unleash Tavernier as he will be eyeing all three points to strengthen their position in the Championship table and give the current league leaders Wolves a run for their money.
The 18-year-old plies his trade on the left flank and also registered his names in the Carabao Cup tie against Bournemouth. His contract is up for expiry at the end of this season but Boro do have an option to extend it for a year and looking at the current trend, they are likely to trigger the clause.
Arsenal scouts have watched the player on a number of occasions and they seemed to be delighted with his development. Everton are also taking an interest in the player. The Toffees have a number of youngsters onto their fold with the likes of Tom Davies and Ademola Lookman and would be looking forward to bolstering their youth contingent.
Although first team opportunity would be scarce if the teenager comes at the Emirates but there would be ample opportunities to learn under a manager like Arsene Wenger. The French gaffer has been in the charge of the Gunners for more than two decades and has polished a number of young players.
Tavernier has been trying to get as much as game time possible to rectify his errors. Bournemouth and Aston Villa are also keeping a close eye on the player and might come with an offer when the transfer window opens in January.
