There have been a lot of rumors regarding Alexis Sanchez’s future at the Emirates Stadium but the reality is that the Chilean star is unlikely to sign a new deal, which has created a wave in the European circuit and a number of big clubs are chasing his services.
Manchester City remain at the forefront to land the Arsenal attacker. Pep Guardiola has always been an avid admirer of the player and since he took the charge at Etihad Stadium, speculations started to mounting regarding a possible reunion between them.
But now it is likely to get fulfilled as Sanchez’s contract runs out at the end of the next season and he will be available for free. Man City would be able to negotiate terms with the player once January starts and if all set well, Sanchez could well don the Sky blues jersey next season.
Efforts have been made to tie him down to a new deal alongside Mesut Ozil who is also on the same path as Sanchez but the club haven’t been succeeded so far but they are unlikely to give up.
The Gunners would miss on a large chunk of transfer money so they might decide to cash in on the player in the winter transfer window. City’s offer of £60m for Sanchez on the deadline day almost saw them through but a deal couldn’t be struck as the Gunners failed to bring in a replacement for Sanchez.
Paris Saint Germain are also ready to rival Man City for Sanchez and have joined the bandwagon. It seems PSG made a big gamble by investing pretty heftily on Neymar who has constantly been linked with a return to Spain with Real Madrid interested in the winger.
Neymar’s relentless dilemma over his future has forced the French club to hunt for a high profile replacement for the Brazilian and Sanchez ticks all the boxes. Moreover, they won’t have to pay any transfer fee, which is a big relief.
Sanchez hasn’t burst into the threatening mode yet as he has made a pretty quiet start this season. But he is likely to be more involved as the season progresses as Arsenal have a very crucial fixture against Manchester United this weekend.
Sanchez has had his on and off moments at the Emirates Stadium since his arrival in 2014 and also led the Gunners to their FA Cup triumph last season. So if Man City do manage to get him for free it would be a huge statement for them.
