Since Craig Shakespeare was shown the door at the King Power Stadium, there seems to be an upturn in the form, as Leicester City have started to show some encouraging movements on the pitch.
The 2015/16 Premier League champions failed to hold on to their title the following season as they stuttered for a large part of the last campaign which also saw title-winning manager Claudio Ranieri departing from the club.
Shakespeare steadied the ship and as a token of appreciation he was handed the full-time charge but it was going almost the same way as the Foxes failed to garner many positives from the ongoing season.
Following a disappointing run of games, Leicester City hierarchy decided to part ways with him and the longtime Leicester loyalist had to leave the club in a very sorry state of affair. The Foxes brought in former Southampton manager Claude Puel and the French manager has had a very good first impression at the club.
Leicester have a very good crop of players and if they utilise them to full force, they can certainly push themselves up in the Premier League table. Let’s have a look at three players who might be able to bring out the best from them.
Jamie Vardy
The English forward has been the man in form for the Foxes this season. He already has racked up six goals in a season which has been very erratic in terms of their form. Vardy was a late bloomer in the last season and his form was one of the key reasons behind Leicester’s survival.
His performance this season has been moreover the same and he needs to stick to his basics to have a more fierce output this season. Puel would be relying on his shoulder for goals and the 30-year-old is expected to justify his selection.
Riyad Mahrez
Probably the backbone of the current Leicester side. The Algerian international had been linked with a potential transfer in the summer but ended up being at the club. He has played his part in every match till now and Puel is likely to use him more in the near future.
Wilfred Ndidi
Filling the void of N’Golo Kante is not a very easy task and the Nigerian midfielder has been doing this with utter perfection. Although it is too early to conclude something but the 20-year-old has a constant presence everywhere and will have to play a pivotal part if Leicester are to finish in a respectable position at the end of this season.
