The Harry Kane transfer saga took an interesting turn this weekend, as a report from Spain, suggests that the player has told Mauricio Pochettino about his desire to leave the club next summer. However, per the same report, Real Madrid are the only club he would leave Tottenham for.
Even though Harry Kane is still bound to a contract until 2022, his blistering performances haven’t gone unnoticed this season. According to Don Balon, Real Madrid have also made Harry Kane, one of their main targets next summer.
As Tottenham brace themselves, for life without their prolific striker, we take a look at three players who could potentially replace the English International in nigh future.
3. Rodrigo
Rodrigo has played a starring role in Valencia’s impressive start to the season. The Oranges are currently the joint top scorers in La Liga so far, with 30 goals, largely thanks to the scoring outburst of their center forward – Rodrigo.
The Spanish attacker has been a revelation under newly appointed head coach Marcelinho this season. Following a couple of rough seasons in the Spanish top flight, plagued with injuries and mediocrity, Rodrigo finally seems to be showing his potential this campaign, boasting an impressive tally of eight goals in 12 games all competitions.
Since switching to the center forward position, Rodrigo’s performances have been on a whole new level and if he can keep up his impressive scoring run for the remainder of the season, the 26-year-old will surely be high on the list of targets for Spurs next summer.
2. Andre Silva
Perhaps the most talented player on this list, AC Milan bagged a bargain when they signed Andre Silva for €38m this summer. Even though the former Porto starlet is yet to find the net in the Serie A this season, Silva’s International scoring record speaks for itself. In just 18 matches, the youngster raked up 11 goals for the Portuguese national team.
Andre Silva is much more than just a regular striker as the 22-year-old. His physical prowess enables him to hold onto the ball for a long time, while he is also good at build-up play. Furthermore, he is also very good in possession and has incredible finishing traits, which are evidently reflected in his impressive goal-scoring tally.
The Portuguese International can be a perfect replacement for Harry Kane at Tottenham. Not only does he have the quality but he is also young, which only bodes well for Mauricio Pochettino in the long run.
1. Timo Werner
Probably the most realistic solution available in the market, RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner has been regarded as the best replacement for Harry Kane. The German International is totally rocking it in the Bundesliga for the past year so, ever since his move to Leipzig.
Werner helped his team finish 2nd in their impressive debut campaign in the Bundesliga last season, scoring 21 goals, eventually becoming the third most lethal striker in the corresponding season. He has also been a huge part of Leipzig’s offensive department this year too, bagging six goals in nine matches.
Timo Werner’s stock is clearly on the rise and the youngster is delivering for both club and country this season. In fact, many expect him to lead the line for Germany in their World Cup campaign next year. But most importantly, Spurs themselves, are hugely interested in the services of the 21-year-old center forward.
Werner is expected to cost above the €50m mark, should Leipzig opt to sell their most prized offensive asset next summer, and Spurs will be making sure that they become the first ones to get their hands on this talented German International.
