Scottish Premiership has truckloads of talents and one of the blossoming youngsters who have been living up to his highly-rated intrinsic value week is Celtic’s dazzling left-back, Kieran Tierney. Under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers, Tierney has thrived really well and has attracted a lot of attention from many top clubs in the recent months, with the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal in hot pursuit to make him sign on the dotted line.
As per one of the latest reports put forth by The Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur have also joined the race to sign him for an anticipated transfer fee of £35million. The 20-year-old is unarguably one of the hottest properties in the Scottish top division and seeing the rapid rise of his admirers, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him leave the Bhoys in the upcoming transfer window for a mega club.
As a proactive measure, Rodgers should start assessing his options in order to replace the Scottish international (in case such a situation arises) and here are two left-backs whom he should vouch.
Faycal Rherras
Moroccan international, Faycal Rherras, has the ingredients to be a decent option for the Celts if Tierney’s exit from the Celtic Park eventually materializes. Rherras, who is currently with Belgian First Division A side, KV Mechelen, was in the books of Heart of Midlothian before being released by the Jambos in the summer.
He had previously plied his trade for Vise and Sint-Truiden and does have adequate experience under his belt. Rherras certainly doesn’t fall in the same bracket as Tierney but he is a decent package who resembles a modern-day fullback. The 24-year-old isn’t unacquainted with Scottish football and is someone whom the former Liverpool boss can monitor.
Tony Gallacher
Currently with Scottish Championship side, Falkirk, Tony Gallacher is one of Scotland’s brightest talents and there are no two views about it. He has been with the Bairns ever since he was a 10-year-old and has paved his way to their senior side. Rodgers has been perennially interested to work with starlets and Gallacher would be an ideal candidate to replace Tierney.
Although Gallacher doesn’t have a daunting physical presence, he showcases tremendous pace and confidence whilst catering to his duties and maintains a neat balance between his offensive and defensive endeavours. Besides, he is young and hard working and at the onset, it definitely looks like he would be a stupendous player in a few years.
