Since moving from Real Betis in 2015, Adrian has been a vital part of West Ham United until last season, when he was put aside by Darren Randolph. Adrian’s stature at the club continued to deteriorate following Joe Hart’s arrival at the London Stadium.
The Spanish custodian was supposed to face the exit in this summer as his contract was due to expire but the Hammers triggered a clause in his contract to extend his stay for two more years. But despite committing himself to the club, it seems his future lies somewhere else. Adrian has been a brave warrior for the Hammers and his dedicated efforts have turned him into a Hammers loyalist.
But Bilic has preferred to stick with summer signing Joe Hart, who has been a bit shaky initially on goal. But in the last couple of matches, he looked fairly confident which is likely to put Adrian in a limbo. The Spaniard is still hoping to get a shot in the World Cup squad and for that, he needs to have regular game time. So he seems to have decided to quit the club and here are three PL clubs that will love to have him:
Newcastle United
The most obvious choice for Adrian. Newcastle United had a relatively quiet summer transfer window and one of Rafa Benitez’s main failures was his inability to tempt a top-notch keeper to St James Park.
Rob Elliot has given the Spanish gaffer a fresh amount of confidence with his displays but Rafa is still in the search of a respectable name and who could be better than Adrian. The 30-year-old is definitely is an upgrade to current keepers Elliot and Karl Darlow and the Magpies could be back for him once again in January.
Crystal Palace
The Eagles secured their first win against Chelsea last weekend but Roy Hodgson must have noticed Wayne Hennessey’s inconsistency in the goal. The Wales international has failed to put in a commendable display in a number of games and has been pretty sloppy.
If the Eagles want a respectable finish, they have to be very tough at the back and Adrian’s arrival could provide Hodgson with a little bit of freedom.
Burnley
Nick Pope has been pretty brilliant for the Clarets since Tom Heaton’s injury but his inexperience could be a liability for Sean Dyche who is aiming to lead the club to a top half finish.
Adrian’s addition could give them a much-needed stability in the goal-keeping section which has been missing since Heaton dislocated his shoulder
