West Bromwich Albion are currently in the middle of a mixed season, having won only two matches so far. They have been inconsistent, to say the least, and have just two victories in their bag, 10 games into the season.
The Baggies have one of the best defences in the Premier League and are banking on them to take them past the line this term as well. However, they are now looking to add some new faces to their side, especially in the midfield, to strengthen it to the core.
Tony Pulis is looking to make a new signing and bring in a top-class enforcer into the side to replace their departed captain and dependable midfielder Darren Fletcher, who left the side in the summer to join Stoke City. Pulis has a number of players on his target list and might be interested in the Brazilian midfielder Josef De Souza.
The 28-year-old is currently plying his trade at the Turkish club Fenerbahce and has been a part of their side since 2015. He is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Turkish Super Lig at the present moment and has been subject to a potential transfer to the Premier League with the Baggies.
The wily Brazilian has played more than a hundred matches for the Turkish club and is one of the key figures in their side. His swift footwork and physical presence at the heart of the midfield, being his main strength, the 28-year-old is known for his ability to control the game, create chances and shut shop when needed and is perfect for the style of play at the Hawthorns.
Apart from this, he excels in delivering venomous strikes from a variety of ranges to find the back of the net, which makes him a dangerous player. His ability to intercept the ball and snatch it from the opponents with well-timed tackles in the midfield has attracted a number of clubs from all over Europe, with West Bromwich Albion looking favourites to secure his service in the near future.
Tony Pulis has still not been able to find a good replacement for the former inspirational skipper of his side and might be interested in bringing in the Brazilian Josef De Souza to the Hawthorns to give his midfield some much-needed stability.
However, the Baggies will have to make sure that there are no problems regarding the fulfilment of personal terms of the player, which stopped the move from completion in the summer. He is a decent option for the Baggies but can they land him this time around?
