Mauricio Pochettino’s Lilywhites lead by Harry Kane have been in superb form and the whole side has been a principle chaser behind Manchester City for the Premier League glory. They proved that point again this evening by belting Liverpool at Wembley and beating them 4-1. Two well-taken goals from Harry Kane, a volley from Alli and a tidy finish from Son was more than enough to see off Liverpool. Here’s how Spurs have been rated:-
GK: Hugo Lloris – 8/10
Made a sublime save to deny Coutinho and remained in superb positions all evening to deny Salah or any other shot. No wonder Wembley was ringing with “Hugo” chant. It wasn’t his fault he conceded.
RWB: Kieran Trippier – 7/10
Provided the assist smartly early on for Harry Kane and he was patrolling the right flank with good confidence. Moreno did trouble him in the second half but on most occasions, he dealt with it well.
CB: Toby Alderweireld – 7/10
Neat with his organization and clever with his footwork. Effortlessly good!
CB: Davinson Sanchez – 7.5/10
Aerially he was brilliant all evening and hardly put a foot wrong stranding in the middle of the Belgians. He doesn’t get enough praise but he’s been a marvellous signing for Pochettino.
CB: Jan Vertonghen – 7/10
Handled the ball well at his feet and tried his best to keep Liverpool at bay.
LWB: Serge Aurier – 7/10
He was really active and coped well with Salah but let the man go for Liverpool’s equaliser. He picked himself after that and did justice to his selection.
CDM: Harry Winks – 7.5/10
His energy was incredibly evident and he won the ball back on several occasions. His clever feet caused trouble too. Pochettino has handled this young lad well and Winks is indeed delivering.
RCM: Christian Eriksen – 7/10
Simple and kept the ball ticking in the middle. Got a standing ovation from the massive crowd.
LCM: Dele Alli – 7.5/10
He embarrassed some of the Liverpool players today and got a goal by reacting quickly. Impressive and lively as usual.
FW: Son Heung-Min – 8/10
He was a key pawn in Pochettino’s strategy and he stepped up fascinatingly well and gelled in impressively. He got a good goal from the counter as well.
CF: Harry Kane – 9.5/10
Only one word for Harry today and that would be ‘ LETHAL ‘.
Substitutes:-
CM: Moussa Sissoko – 5/10
Got energy to the game but failed to retain ball with his footwork and lost it many times.
Defender : Eric Dier – N/A
Came on late.
FW: Fernando Llorente – N/A
Same as Dier. He came on very late.
