Tottenham are keen to continue their winning run in the Premier League and carve a niche for themselves at the top of the league table in the future. The North London club are looking in good form after winning their last two matches in the competition, their last one being a 4-0 thrashing of the newcomers Huddersfield Town.
Spurs have also started to chalk out their plans for the future and are eager to add some fresh faces to their side to make themselves a better outfit. The gaffer Mauricio Pochettino has his eyes on a number of players who might add to the strength of the side in the January transfer market and the one on the top of his target list is the Portuguese midfielder, Andre Gomes.
The 24-year-old is currently playing his trade at the Spanish club Barcelona since his arrival at the club in 2016. The player caught the eyes of a number of big-name clubs with his brilliant display during the Euro 2016 competition and helped his side to get on the winners’ podium in the final.
However, the ex-Valencia ace was unable to make a similar mark at Nou Camp and fell down the pecking order under their former coach Luis Enrique. Unfortunately, their new manager Ernesto Valverde has also found the Portuguese midfielder’s skills not too conducive to his plans and there is a chance that he might be offloaded in the next transfer window.
A number of clubs have shown their interest in the player if he is allowed to leave but Tottenham are looking firm favourites to land the player in the near future.
Spurs are worried about finding the right composition for the midfield and their Belgian ace Mousa Dembele is suffering from a prolonged injury problem, which is restricting him from making appearances consistently for them. So there is a possibility that Tottenham might look to bring in a viable replacement for him this winter in the form of Andre Gomes.
Gomes is known for his ability to fight for the ball and pass to the right person at the right time. However, his style has failed to attract the eyes of the Barcelona team management, which might see him leave Nou Camp very soon. However, Spurs might have to make a substantial bid to get the player to their side in the next transfer window.
He is a decent buy but is he what Spurs need?
