Stoke City got a big boost in their fight to stay in the top half of the Premier League this season when they defeated the in-form Watford side in their last match. The only goal of the match came from Darren Fletcher, who found the back of the net with a long-range effort.
The Potters are currently standing at the 14th position in the league table, having suffered five defeats already this season. Their worst nightmare came to life when the current league leaders Manchester City took them to the sword and scored seven goals to defeat them by one of the biggest margins in the history of the Premier League.
Besides conceding the highest number of goals this season, only after Crystal Palace, the Potters have also not been able to sh0w their firepower and have failed to score as many goals as they would have wanted. This has prompted to change a few things around in their side, especially in the frontline, which needs immediate refashioning.
Reportedly, Stoke City are looking to add a new striker to their squad and are eyeing some of the best in the business to fill in the spot. One such player is the Moroccan international Mimoun Mahi, who is currently plying his trade for the Eredivisie side Groningen.
The 23-year-old was one of the sensations in the last term, scoring 17 goals in total for his current possessors. He has good pace to accompany his ability to score goals from a variety of ranges, leading his side to a number of important wins. His swift footwork is good enough to get the better of the opposition defenders and get the ball into the final third to assist his teammates to score goals.
The Moroccan youngster has attracted interests from a number of Premier League as well as Championship clubs, including the likes of Nottingham Forest and Bristol City. Among the Premier League outfits, Swansea City might favour a move for the 23-year-old in the near future as well.
However, Stoke boss Mark Hughes looks determined to sign him in the next transfer window and increase the depth of his strike force. The Welshman is well aware of the fact that this might be the last season for him at the Bet365 Stadium if he can’t lead his side to finish at a better position in the top flight than the last term and might need someone like Mimoun Mahi to help him in his pursuit.
But is he the right man for them?
