Southampton managed to get a well-earnt point away at Brighton. The Saints took the lead through Steven Davis after James Ward-Prowse free-kick hit the post and the Northern Ireland midfielder tapped home the rebound.
Fraser Forster (6):
Made a comfortable save to deny Pröpper, but apart from that, not an awful lot to do in the first half.
Cedric Soares (5):
Struggled to deal with the pace and trickery of Jose Izquierdo throughout the game. He also made a few loose passes in the game.
Virgil Van Dijk (6):
Didn’t have an awful lot to do but is having a real duel with Glenn Murray up top. The Dutch defender continued his battle but made a couple of fouls and struggled to handle Murray.
Wesley Hoedt (5) :
Made a couple of headers clear but apart from that, not an awful lot to do the first half. He had a poor second half he was beaten in the air by Murray for the equaliser. He then had a coming together with Murray which saw him collect a booking for pushing the striker over.
Ryan Bertrand (6):
Doing well to contain the threat of Anthony Knockaert and Bruno. In the second he really struggled as he had to deal with the constant attack from Brighton.
Steven Davis (6) :
Opened the scoring in the sixth minute. Apart from that not really done much first half. In the second half, he made seemed comfortable on the ball.
Oriel Romeu (6):
Made some good tackles and interceptions to help the Saints try and get on the back foot. In the second half, he continued to get involved and managed to escape a booking even though he did make some silly fouls.
James Ward-Prowse (6) :
His free kick came off the post in the sixth minute which was tapped in by Davis to open the scoring. Haven’t really done an awful lot apart from that. His delivery from set pieces throughout the game was top class. He then went off in the 83rd minute.
Dusan Tadic (5) :
Had a good shot blocked by Lewis Dunk in the first half. In the second half, he did not do an awful lot. He then went off in the 83rd minute.
Sofiane Boufal (4):
Spent a lot of time on the floor and been very wasteful on the ball first half. He didn’t do a great deal in the second half. Taken off on the 71st minute for Nathan Redmond.
Manolo Gabbiadini (4):
Held up the ball well once. Apart from that not seen much of the ball. In the second half, he struggled to get involved.
