Charly Musonda has been at the centre of attention in the recent past due to lack of game time on the pitch. He had higher expectations from Chelsea to provide him opportunities. But after a long wait, he opened up regarding his disappointment on Instagram and exclaimed, “You sacrifice, you work hard, harder, you give more than what’s expected. And what do you get back? Literally nothing…done.”
Conte handled the situation well and backed his player by claiming that the Belgian winger has a bright future ahead of him at Stamford Bridge. He asked Musonda to keep patience, work harder and concentrate lesser on social media.
With the mix up between the player and club, it is expected that he could be out on loan to get more minutes. Although, Conte has said that the youngster is much needed for Chelsea and will not be loaned out to any other club.
Musonda started his career in Anderlecht’s youth system before being watched by Chelsea. He made two appearances for Chelsea and was then loaned out to Betis. He scored just one goal for them. Conte confirmed last year that he would stay at Chelsea alongside Kenedy and Ake.
He scored his first goal for Chelsea in the league cup tie against Nottingham Forest and impressed many. He has also been a part of the Belgium national team, from U-15 to U-21 levels. He has scored 5 goals for U-16, a couple of them for U-17, 3 for U-19 and 1 for the U-21.
Musonda is highly talented as he has quick feet, isn’t afraid to take on players and has a great first touch. He can cross and play quick 1-2s, gels with his fellow attackers well. Also to add, he can finish with both his feet and possesses composure. He loves to face the challenge, is smart at changing his pace with the ball and surely belongs at the highest level.
With Chelsea fans already receiving the good news about his future, he must stay after what he has shown so far this season. He has come back with better maturity and finishing. With Pedro and Willian too, in their late 20s and Chelsea facing squad depth related issues, it is important for the prodigy to stay.
He has attained the quality of decision making while dribbling as it is easy to lose possession when one is a gifted dribbler. He has the ability to pick key passes and Conte has noticed it. Hence, he too wants Musonda to stay. But do you think that is the best decision for the player?
