Watford have taken the Premier League by a storm as the Hornets have reached new heights this season. Under the tutelage of Marco Silva, they appear to have approached this new season in a completely different manner and the result has been ecstatic so far for them.
They have so far lost only once and have been an inspirational side this season. However, all teams have their special requirements in the transfer market and it seems the Portuguese gaffer is in dire need of a midfielder and has been reportedly tracking Raul Meireles.
The former Liverpool midfielder is currently a free agent, having parted his ways with Fenerbahce in this summer. He has been looking for a new club and is yet to make his mind. The 34-year-old is looking for a new challenge and might fancy a change at the Vicarage Road.
Watford were quite busy in the transfer market as they broke the club transfer record to bring in a number of players. With the new TV rights’ money and prize money chipping in, clubs have started to invest with new vigour and intention. Clubs around the Europe are vying for his signature but Premier League should be his priority given his two previous successful stints with two different clubs.
The midfielder spent two magnificent seasons first at Liverpool and then at Chelsea. He won the PFA player of the season for his heroics at Anfield and went on to win the Champions League with the Blues later.
A central midfielder primarily, he can also be deployed in a more advanced position and can also steer the game from the deep. Watford have mostly opted to give youngsters a chance this season and the likes of Richarlison and Nathaniel Chalobah have been a hit at the club, so it could be a little bit difficult for the veteran midfielder to fit into this setup.
He can be a dominant force in the midfield and would be able to provide the necessary thrust that Silva has been craving for. With Nathaniel Chalobah set to miss a prolonged period, he could be an option for the gaffer.
A number of Premier League clubs are scouting for the player. Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City are all believed to be in the race for the player so Watford do have a very tough task to cut out. Should they go all in for him?
