Marcus Rashford:
Manchester United’s teenage sensation, the 19-year old kid from the red half of Manchester, has broken into the big stage in the most dramatic fashion. He has scored on every possible debut he made for the club and his keen eye for goal has seen him develop into a fine first-team player.
Along with his dribbling skills and raw pace, Rashford looks like the complete product and the England International, who is yet to turn 20, has a wonderfully promising career ahead of him. Marcus Rashford has scored 7 goals and set up 3 already this season.
Marco Asensio:
It is not the easiest task for a young player to break into the first team at Real Madrid, let alone become a star player for the club. So it was quite surprising and welcoming as the world stood watching Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane give young Marco Asensio a chance to become a star at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Spaniard took the opportunity with both hands and scored important goals and has become an integral part of the Madrid team. He has broken into the Spanish national camp as well and at the age of 22, looks set to develop into a world-class player in the future.
The Story:
Real Madrid let go of Alvaro Morata in the summer. The Galacticos now have Karim Benzema, who is on the wrong side of 30, an ageing Cristiano Ronaldo and young Borja Mayoral as the only options to play up front. This has left Zidane looking for new players in attack. Moreover, even though Asensio is a promising player, Real have a host of midfielders in Isco, Modric, Kroos, Casemiro and Kovacic, who can play through the centre. So it will be an interesting switch for them if they can bring in Rashford for Asensio.
However, for United, the move would be an absolute no-go, simply because they cannot let go of Rashford, irrespective of whoever they are offered. The young Englishman is exactly the kind of player that gets the crowd at Old Trafford on their feet.
Will it Happen?
A move that Real Madrid would be willing to risk on, given that they will be bringing in a player of Rashford’s quality despite losing Asensio. However, for Manchester United, they should be solid in their stance against any club approaching their teenage sensation and they would do well to tie him down to a solid contract before Fiorentino Perez comes prying again; a memory United fans are not fond of, especially since the last time the player he took away from them was none other than five-time player of the year Cristiano Ronaldo.
