Manchester City are looking in absolutely blistering form since the start of the season and have not lost a single match so far. They have won eight of their nine matches in the Premier League this season and have established themselves as hot favourites to clinch the title.
Their gaffer Pep Guardiola did not have a very good start to life in the Premier League when he took charge of the side in the last term and was not able to win any silverware. However, this season, the Spaniard is all the more determined to make his presence felt in top-flight English football helping his club to a trophy.
The Citizens spent a lot of money in the summer transfer window and brought in some top class players to increase their side’s strength. They might look to do the same in the next transfer window as well, which commences in January to add some balance to the squad their disposal.
Among a number of players who have been eyed by Manchester City, the name of the English midfielder Jack Wilshere is right on top. The player is currently a part of the Premier League side Arsenal and is gradually carving a niche for himself in the side, having lost lion’s share of his career span so far owing to injuries.
The player was sent on loan to Dean Court in the last term and played a very important role for Bournemouth in their midfield. However, he was not able to continue showing his class throughout the season as injury worries once again sidelined him at the South Coast club.
This season, however, he is regularly featuring in the Arsenal squad in their Europa League and League Cup games and has made a few appearances in the Premier League as well. While the Gunners will be hoping that the talented youngster does not fall prey to injuries once again, Manchester City might be looking for the right opportunity to bag the player.
The 25-year-old is known for his versatility and can play as an attacking midfielder and also in a holding role. His accuracy in passing has earned a lot of praise from a number of experts.
It will definitely not be easy for the Citizens to secure the services of the English midfielder as the North London club are already looking to offer a new contract and tie him down at the Emirates Stadium. But is Wilshere an option Pep should pursue?
