Liverpool are facing trouble in the current season of the Premier League, having lost their last match against Tottenham Hotspur in absolutely humiliating fashion. They were taken to the swords by the Spurs’ forwards and fell to their second loss of the season.
The Reds are known for their offensive mindset and can boast of one of the best attacks in the Premier League. Under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp, the implementer of his own brand of football, the “gegenpressing” style, the Merseyside club finished in the top four at the end of the previous season. This season also, they depend on their attack to win them matches in the Premier League as well as in the Champions League.
However, it might be a real detriment for the Reds if they have to part ways with their talisman Philippe Coutinho in the next transfer window. The Brazilian has been tracked by the Spanish giants Barcelona since the last season as a replacement for their departed forward Neymar.
Coutinho is very much interested in the move and it now seems that the player might be very close to his long-cherished switch to the Nou Camp.
The Reds, in return, might look to add an attacking option to their side in the form of Gerard Deulofeu. The Spanish winger is currently plying his trade at Barcelona and reports suggest that a swap deal for the Brazilian and the Spaniard might be on the cards.
The 23-year-old attacker is no stranger to English football, having spent a significant time of his career with Liverpool’s derby rivals, Everton. The Spaniard has played a total of 75 matches for the Toffees but establish himself in their squad and was sent on loan to play for AC Milan.
On his return, the player was sold to the Blaugrana and has made 1o appearances so far this season. However, he has been once again been restricted to a bits and pieces role in the absence of their injured forwards and there might be a better future waiting for him at Anfield if he decides to move back to England.
Rising to fame with his performance for the Barcelona B side, the player has been more of an outcast at every team he has played for so far. However, a move to the Merseyside club might give him a good opportunity to prove his mettle at the highest level and help his career to flourish in future.
But do you think Liverpool should accept him as a part of the Coutinho deal?
