Everton find themselves in absolute dire straits after their shambolic defeat at the hands of Arsenal in their ninth match of the season. This being their fifth loss of the season, the Merseyside club have been pushed down the table into the relegation zone.
As an aftermath of the disappointing start to their season, gaffer Ronald Koeman was sacked by the Everton club management. With the Dutchman parting ways, the Blue of Merseyside are now in the search of a new manager who can pull them out of the tumultuous situation in the near future.
A number of names have come up as the probable replacement of Koeman, including the likes of Italian gaffer Carlo Ancelotti, who has recently been removed by the German giants Bayern Munich from the top job after a dismal start to the season. However, the option of the Italian taking charge at Goodison Park being kept out of contention, the Toffees might look to bring in the former coach of championship side Aston Villa, Remi Garde.
The 51-year-old was in charge of the Villans just for a single season in 2015/16 and was replaced by Steve Bruce. However, he had a good tenure with the Ligue 1 club Lyon, which helped him rise to fame and earn excellent reviews from a number of experts.
During his tenure with the French club, Garde ensured total team integration and helped them to win the prestigious Coupe De France in the 2011/12 season. Lyon played a total of 166 matches under his stewardship, winning 84 of them, establishing him as one of the most highly regarded managers in Ligue 1.
His brilliant display of managerial skills and tactics landed him at the Villa Park, with Aston Villa hoping he would lead them back into the Premier League. However, his tenure at the Championship club lasted only 23 matches, as 13 losses and 7 draws compelled the club to call the curtains on his managerial career at Villa Park.
However, the French manager, who was also a player for the Premier League club Arsenal, might be heading back into English football once again, this time in the top flight. Reportedly, Everton are quite interested in the former Aston Villa manager and want him to take up this job.
It will, nevertheless, be a big challenge for the French tactician to take charge of a Premier League club, who are currently in absolute disarray. However, it is expected that his guile and breakthrough strategies will help the Merseyside club to save their season. But do you think Garde is the right man for Everton?
