A different opposition but the same result. This has been the story of Everton this season so far. The Merseyside club lost back to back matches against Arsenal and Leicester City and are going deeper into the relegation zone with every passing match.
It was their sixth loss in 10 matches so far this season, which leaves them at the 18th spot in the league table. A change of manager has clearly failed to change the fate of the Toffees and it looks they are destined to end up in the second tier, come the end of the season.
The efforts to defend their goal in front of the relentless attack from Leicester City by the Everton players proved to be futile and they have been rated in the following way.
Jordan Pickford- 4
Has been nowhere near the form he showed for Sunderland in the last term and let his side down once again. The Englishman has now conceded 20 goals this season, one of the worst in the Premier League this season so far.
Jonjoe Kenny- 2
The youngster was not able to keep the opposition at bay and it was his dreadful defending that presented Demarai Grey with a goal.
Phil Jagielka- 4
The veteran Englishman has not been able to do any justice to his abilities this season so far. He was not able to hold back compatriot and Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, who took advantage of the misunderstanding between the two centre-backs to score the first goal for his side.
Ashley Williams- 4
Carried forward his disastrous form since the start of the season, the Welsh defender found it difficult to vie with the Leicester forwards and ended up on the losing side once again.
Leighton Baines- 5
Has not been able to make a mark so far this season for the Toffees. The left-back has been far from his best form and was not able to escape another disappointment.
Aaron Lennon- 4
In his comeback match in the starting eleven, the English international looked at sixes and sevens, neither being able to keep the possession of the ball with him nor finding the forwards with his passes.
Tom Davies- 5
The young Englishman tried his level best but was unable to save the match for his side.
Idrissa Gueye- 4
Was not able to dominate the midfield by any means and looked completely out of sorts in the middle of the pitch.
Kevin Mirallas- 2
Was probably the most disappointing performer for the Toffees and was substituted at the halfway point.
Wayne Rooney- 5
Tried his best to earn a point for his side but failed to cast his spell over the opponents.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin- 4
Was not able to score a goal for his side and led his side to another disappointing result in the Premier League.
Substitutes
Oumar Niasse- 4
The Senegalese striker seems to have lost his scoring touch and was not able to change the fate of his side after being substituted in the 45th minute.
Beni Baningme- 4
The youngster did not look good and was not able to compete with the opponents well.
Gylfi Sigurdsson- NA
Played too little to warrant a rating.
