Ronald Koeman’s tenure at the Goodison Park seems to be numbered at this stroke of hour after his troops were comprehensively outclassed at their very own backyard by a superb Arsenal side. The Toffees were beaten 2-5 by Arsene Wenger’s men and here is our Everton’s players’ ratings from their shambolic outing today.
Jordan Pickford 7/10
It would be unfair to criticize Pickford for the debacle, for the custodian did make plenty of good saves (particularly in the first half) but couldn’t suppress the storm which came from the visiting side during the second half.
Michael Keane 5/10
Keane struggled throughout the game, particularly in dealing with the master class of Mesut Ozil and his concentration level kept dropping as the game progressed.
Ashley Williams 5/10
Alexandre Lacazette’s pace proved to be too much for Williams who looked rusty more often than not and was subbed at the halfway mark.
Phil Jagielka 6/10
The veteran defender took time to settle and despite giving his all, he couldn’t save his employers from the humiliation.
Jonjoe Kenny 6/10
Kenny looked promising down the right and did maraud forward time and again despite the difficulties Arsenal offered.
Leighton Baines 6/10
Initially, the Englishman went forward plenty of times but as the game progressed, he was forced to shift on his back foot.
Idrissa Gueye 5/10
Gueye didn’t have a great day at the office and frankly speaking, he failed to impose himself as a commendable player in the middle of the park. It was needless from him to lunge in at Granit Xhaka, due to which he was sent off after he was handed his second yellow.
Nikola Vlasic 6/10
He did create space in the first half and made some strong runs, before waning in the later stages of the game.
Gylfi Sigurdsson 5/10
The former Swansea City man is yet to live up to the hefty price tag which the Blues dished out for him during the summer transfer window as he went missing frequently.
Wayne Rooney 6/10
Rooney might have scored the opener but he faded after that and was eventually pulled out by Koeman.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin 6.5/10
He led the line well, linking up well with his teammates and was good he is in the air. He was one of the positives for the home side.
Substitutions:
Tom Davies 6/10
Davies looked promising after coming on for William, but failed to keep the momentum going after his side were reduced to ten men.
Ademola Lookman 5/10
He was brought on after Rooney was taken out of the game but couldn’t really get into the scheme of things.
Oumar Niasse 5/10
Niasse was handed a goal due to the misunderstanding between Petr Cech and Nacho Monreal and apart from that, he did nothing substantial after coming on for Calvert-Lewin.
