Everton are possibly in the worst situations they could have imagined before the start of the season. The Toffees are reeling at the bottom of the table and Ronald Koeman needs to put an end to their dismal run. Despite splashing money in the summer, the Merseyside club has failed big time and the gaffer wants to use the January transfer window to make some amendments.
According to reports, Everton are monitoring Leicester City striker Ahmed Musa. The Nigerian forward is way behind in the pecking order and is yet to make a start in the Premier League. Musa arrived from CSKA Moscow in 2016 but is yet to find his solace in England.
He was supposed to be the next big thing in European football but lack of involvement has made him a scapegoat as he has also lost his place in the national set-up. In a bid to have his position back, the 24-year-old is looking to leave the club and Everton could be his destination.
Koeman is suffering from an acute goal-crisis as his forwards haven’t fulfilled his expectations. They are trying to recall Henry Onyekuru from his loan spell but if they fail to clinch the move, Musa is likely to be their plan B.
The Nigerian forward is known for his ferocious speed but hasn’t been utilized properly following his big-money move. He has also failed to dislodge Jamie Vardy from his position which has been a frustrating thing for him.
He possibly has all the attributes to become a success in the Premier League. He likes to play the channels and can be equally destructive from the flanks. Although his main position is up front, he can be utilised from the flanks also.
The likes of Wayne Rooney and Sandro Ramirez have been pretty disappointing with their performances this season. Since Riomelu Lukaku’s departure, the Toffees are struggling in front of the goals and Musa could be their solution.
The forward is crying for first-team game time and Koeman can provide him with that. He can pair him up with Sandro upfront and together, they can form a very formidable pair. Koeman knows they need to bounce back and that the next few games could decide their future.
Should Everton make an offer in January for Musa, Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare is unlikely to block his move, given their current strength in that department. So is Musa an option for Everton?
