The summer transfer window has closed long ago but transfer rumours are continuously pouring in. Clubs all around the globe have started their preparation as we could expect another one month of rigorous transfers in January when the transfer window reopens.
According to reports, Leicester City are keeping an eye on Middlesbrough defender Dael Fry. The youngster made a flying start to this campaign and has maintained a steady growth till now as he has become one of the favourites for Garry Monk.
The defender has started nine matches this season alongside Ben Gibson and his performance at the heart of the Boro defence has caught the attention of a number of clubs. The 20-year-old also played a key role as England lifted the U-20 World Cup title in the summer.
He has also represented the Three Lions at various youth levels and is currently with the U-21 squad as they prepare for their European qualifiers. Fry was also a part of the promotional Boro side as he was called up by then manager Aitor Karanka following an injury crisis.
Leicester brought Harry Maguire from Hull City in the summer but have been searching a capable defender to feature alongside him in the deep defence. Both Wes Morgan and Robert Huth have become a bit predictive and Craig Shakespeare wants some fresh faces on the squad.
Fry could be the next star defender to emerge from the Riverside following the meteoric rise of Ben Gibson. Despite Boro’s relegation, Gibson stood tall and was the sharpest player last season which was a disaster for them
A number of clubs had chased Gibson but Boro managed to keep a hold of their star asset and they would be hoping to do the same with Fry who has emerged as a potential target for a number of clubs.
Fry was dropped from the last match and the result was pretty evident as Boro had to be satisfied with a 2-2 draw with Brentford. Monk has been given the charge to lead the Riversiders to glory and if he is to maintain the level of the game, Fry needs to play in every match.
The 20-year-old has a brilliant work rate and has all the qualities in him to become the future star. Leicester badly need some defensive reinforcements and Fry could be that defender they have been searching for a long time.
