Crystal Palace’s woeful form continues as they are still searching for their first win since their shocking win over Chelsea. Roy Hodgson’s side remain at the bottom of the relegation zone and if things don’t improve soon, they could be in sheer danger.
According to reports, Crystal Palace are considering a move for Fenerbahce midfielder Ozan Tufan. Roy Hodgson is likely to have a fat transfer kitty as he is aiming a turnaround for his side. Staying afloat in the top tier would be his priority and he will need enough reinforcements in the winter transfer window.
Tufan has emerged as one of the transfer targets and Palace could formally make a bid in January. The Eagles do have a quality side but the absence of a dominant presence in the middle of the park has been felt. Predominantly a defensive midfielder, the 22-year-old can plug the holes in the midfield.
Also, the player can be deployed in multiple positions in the midfield, which will give Hodgson more options, if he does arrive at the Selhurst Park. He can also play fluently on the right side of the defence and has even played as an out and out right winger.
A number of clubs were linked with the player following his brilliant display for Turkey in the Euro 2016. Manchester United followed the player pretty closely and were one of the favourites to land the youngster but the deal never materialised and now he has emerged as a possible target for Roy Hodgson’s side.
The midfielder has had a decent season so far as he has already racked up three goals and one assist under his belt. Hodgson nodded positively on being asked about his possible transfer targets. “I think Doug Freedman, since he was brought into the club a couple of weeks before they brought me into the club, has been working on that already. I think he is working on meeting with our current scouting set up and people we use,” he said in a recent interview.
The player would command a fee in the range of £10m which shouldn’t be a problem for the Eagles. They do have the financial muscle to leverage his wage and the transfer fee, so Hodgson will be hoping for a positive outcome. Palace need some players can provide them with a cutting edge and Tufan could be a more than a decent option.
