Brendan Rodgers and Celtic returned to Celtic Park to host Kilmarnock as Scottish football returned to the home of The Celts. The home side dominated the game from the kick-off and got their goal minutes before half-time through Leigh Griffiths who did justice to the long ball he got. Jones, however, equalised for Kilmarnock at the hour mark against the run of play and the away team held the hosts to a draw. Celtic have stretched their unbeaten streak to 62 and here’s how they’ve been rated:-
GK: Craig Gordon – 6/10
He was a mere spectator in the first half and had to do nothing. He couldn’t stop the goal and couldn’t react quickly either to the through ball.
RB: Mikael Lustig – 5.5/10
Supported Celtic’s attack down the right for the majority of the game but he was a major letdown aerially as Kilmarnock scored after that.
CB: Nir Bitton – 6/10
He was pushed a bit ahead to play the role of a defensive midfielder and he was decent. Nothing extraordinary.
CB: Kristoffer Ajer – 7.5/10
Came really close to scoring from a distance and he used his physical strength really well. He defused the Kilmarnock attack several times and showed good footwork on the ball. Reliable!
LB: Kieran Tierney – 7/10
He was a positive outlet for Celtic down the left as he patrolled with authority. He got in crosses and tried to find the right end product. Came close to scoring as well as his attempt to put the ball in nearly became an own goal. Good day for Tierney.
CM: Kouassi Eboue – 7/10
He used the ball well and switched the ball several times. He had a great start and played a superb ball to Griffiths for Celtic’s goal.
CM: Olivier Ntcham – 6/10
He had a tidy game and looked really comfortable on the ball.
RW: Patrick Roberts – 6/10
Tirelessly troubled the defence of Kilmarnock and put in crosses but somehow the end product was a bit of a letdown because it wasn’t converted. He was subbed off due to an injury very early.
CAM: Tom Rogic – 3/10
The marking was a bit rigid on him and he was not allowed space. He had a dismal and a frustrating afternoon.
LM: Michael Johnston – 6/10
He started out on the left but was switched to right after Roberts suffered an injury. He troubled the defence on few occasions but he too wasn’t given the time like Rogic.
ST: Leigh Griffiths – 6/10
Got a number of chances which he didn’t convert especially from the side of Tierney. Took his chance well before the half, kept his composure and scored to give Celtic the opener. Should have converted a few others ones too.
Substitutes:-
LM: Scott Sinclair – 5/10
He had a very subdued afternoon and was not into the game much.
M: Stuart Armstrong – 4/10
Didn’t have any impact and misplaced passes.
FW: Moussa Dembele – 6/10
His only noticeable contribution after coming on was a low shot which was saved.
