Ronald Koeman was finally relieved of his duties at Everton as he left the club yesterday following a series of disastrous results. The Dutch manager was supposed to challenge for the top five places in the Premier League but the Toffees have been tooth-less throughout the season which has seen the club take a drastic move.
U23 boss David Unsworth is managing things currently at the Goodison Park with the help of current assistant John Ebbrell but owner Farhad Moshiri is searching for a new manager for his side and Sean Dyche’s name has emerged as a possible option.
The Burnley manager has led his team with confidence this season as the Clarets tamed Chelsea on the opening day of the season and the juggernaut continued as they went on to spring a number of surprising results.
Koeman had all the resources to deliver and on the back of a very successful season, the supporters had hoped to see better football this season. But things just did not seem to be falling in the right place.
The former Southampton gaffer brought in a host of players in the summer to give his squad a new look but barring a few, nobody has come up with useful contributions which proved to be the final nail in the coffin.
Dyche has brought in changes in the playing style and instead of playing boring defensive football, The Clarets have put on an entertaining passing attacking football which has seen them settle into top flight well this season as well.
Dyche is often called “Ginger Mourinho” for his hardman attitude which has been a boon in disguise for the Turf Moor outfit. On being asked about the rumours, Dyche answered, “It’s very flattering, I’ve been linked with other situations before.
“I just keep getting on with my job until things change. It’s out of my hands, I’m just getting on with what I do. “
So it could be a hint either in a positive or a negative way. Everton have built their reputation as a top club in the European circuit and managing the club would be a dream job for anyone. The Toffees hierarchy is set to interview a number of other contenders like Carlo Ancelotti and Thomas Tuchel according to reports.
It remains to be seen whether they opt for an experienced Dyche or go for a new name with a big tag. But can Dyche turn things around at Everton?
